How to Open Custom Email Address on your phone using Gmail App

So you have finish building your website for your business or company and have setup your custom email account for your business website. Going to different web address to open, read and send email can be tedious for managers. However, getting the power to manage all your custom business emails plus personal email in one app can makes things easier for you. In this tutorial we will be looking at how you can synchronize all your custom email(s) or any other in email account in one app using the Gmail App. But first let give a brief definition to what a custom email address is below so we can all be on the same page.

If you are wondering what a custom email address is, it is simply an email address that is generated based on your brand or website domain of your business or company, instead of using the email provider’s generic name. An example is info@yourname.com. This is the second most important item for any business online presence. Though you can use the generic free email address for your business or company, getting a custom email address makes your business or company looks more professional and increase customer trust in the business.

How to set it up Custom Email in Gmail App

Gmail app is a free app on mobile app stores. It is use to open, read and send email from an email account for your phone. The app is not only designed to open only Gmail email account but can be use to open dozen of email account from different hosting services such as Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook and many other email domain. It can be use to open many others including custom email address. Below is how you can use the app to open your custom domain.

1. Get the Gmail App

The first thing to do is to download and install the Gmail app unto your phone. Many android devices come with the app pre-installed on it, but if not the case you can still download and install the app from the link below Apple App Store and Google PlayStore

2 Setting Up Installation Guide

After the app has finished installing on your device you now have to set it up. Locate the Gmail app and click the app icon on your device to launch the app. You can use the Gmail Go version. The steps are same on all Gmail App versions. So don’t worry

You will see the screen below on your first launch. Click on “GOT IT”

Adding Email Address

If you do not see any email address above than click on “+ Add an Email Address” if there is then click “TAKE ME TO GMAIL” if you want to view messages from the current email account. For this tutorial; let select “+ Add an Email Address” or “+ Add another Email Address” because we want to add a custom email address.

Select your Preferred Email Domain

In the next screen you can choose any of the email domain providers listed on the screen. For example you can choose Google, Outlook, Hotmail, Live, Yahoo, Exchange and Office 365 depending on your email address provider. But to open custom email address in the Gmail app select the “Others” option

Add your email Address

In the next screen Add your custom email address in the field labeled Enter your email (eg: info@example.com). Then click the NEXT button to continue to the next stage

 

Type of Account

In the next screen under “What type of account is this?” select Personal (POP3)

Next enter the password for the custom email account and click NEXT BUTTON to continue.

In the next screen check the information. You can make changes to Delete email from server. If everything is Ok click NEXT BUTTON to continue.

Account options

Under account options make the necessary changes to suit your need. You can make changes to the Sync frequency to Never, every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, Every Hour. Please do not choose Never. Notify me when email arrives: when this feature is enabled you will get an alert when there is a new email in the account. If you don’t want to be notified uncheck this feature. Finally you can uncheck the Sync email for this account option if you don’t want to sync the email account with the Gmail App. This will depend on you. But it best you leave the default setting. After all is set click NEXT

Your account is set up and email is on its way!

There are two filed in this screen in the in Your name field enter the business name or the name that you want your customers to see when you send them an email. The Account name is optional you can maintain the email address in that field or use the name of the business. Finally click next.

Re-launch the app again this time you will see your custom email address click on take me to Gmail. You are all setup to receive, read and send email from your custom email account from your Gmail App. When you receive an email you will get notified.

How to add more Email Address to Gmail App

At the top right corner of the screen (that is the image your email account) click on it.

In the popup window select the Add another account and follow the steps above to open your email account in the Gmail app.

For those using the Gmail Go version click the menu icon at the left top corner of the app. 

In the navigation window click the drop-down icon located at top right of the app. 

Click the +Add account and follow the steps above to add another email account to the app.

How to Add Cpanel Email Address to Gmail

The step for adding custom email address generated with cpanel is the same as the steps above.
